Car and Plane Bingo for Kids
Two bingo sheets for the trip itself, one for the car and one for the plane. Nobody has to call the words: the window does it. Spot a truck or a cloud, say the word, and everyone covers it on their board.
How to play spotting bingo
This is bingo without a caller. Each player gets a board and a page of Frank covers. When anyone spots something on the boards out of the window, they say its word, and everyone finds the word on their own board, reads it back, and covers it. Four in a row wins: across, down, or corner to corner.
For the quiet stretches, cut out the cards at the end of each sheet. Above the clouds or on a dark road, turn one over and read it aloud. That is the next thing to look for.
Everyone covers every word, so a 4-year-old who spots more slowly than a big brother is never shut out. The boards hold the same 16 words in different places, so they still finish at different times.
If a tablet is coming too, our guide to apps and games for a plane or road trip says which apps keep working offline. Run the five-minute airplane-mode test on them the night before, while you still have Wi-Fi.
